Little Soldiers

Little Soldiers

A Poem by NeonWolves

The Darkness creeps slowly.
Engulfing anything in its path.
No mercy for the young or the old.
All are taken in,
Covered in black.
You know when it comes.
The sun hides,
And the clouds darken
Along with the sky.
Turning from inviting blue
To piercing black.
The only thing that dares to emerge,
The small lights that erupt from the
Stars.
They seem so small.
But the light so bright.
How can that be?
That the sun can hide and
The people can retreat,
Yet the stars.
They shine through it all.
No matter how silently it creeps,
The darkness rarely escapes the dots
That pierce its dark
And fight the black.
Little soldiers.
Armed with only their
Light.
I guess,
No matter how dark,
No matter how silent,
The darkness,
Can always be pierced by
Little soldiers.
Armed with only their
Light.

I love the metaphor here neon! We can all be little stars can't we?! We should not cower before the darkness because it seems too great for us but we should fight against it! Very cool!
This piece had great flow and a great message.
