The Magpie

Upon the steps of a fire escape
a black and white bandit
with flashes of green
ascends.
He has wings to carry him
and yet he prefers to hop
hop, hop
one step at a time,
then upwards he flutters,
alights on a railing
then leaps and falls,
mimics a swallow’s dive before he
swoops up again
to land once more on his feet,
and up the steps again he goes,
one flight higher than before.

Probably my favourite one of yours I've read, I love the imagery and whole feel of it. Keep them coming, you can never write too many ^_^
