Broken Light

Broken Light

A Poem by Callen Stein
"

A sonnet based around the forces of life and death

"
The sun had set on the world I once knew,
Breaking the chains of oppression I feel.
Though I fell, I felt a light-spreading dew
Cascading down my shattered body's reel.

Sweet light, by the rays of Aurora's dawn,
Cover me in the rays of the lovely
And break my will, for my old soul must be gone
To a different plane for eternity.

Death comes at my beckoning call to serve
The souls I had robbed of sweet innocence.
Although he indeed wields the crescent curve,
I alone bring him to deliverance.

Oh, sweet light, please shield my dark, blind eyes,
And bring me to the night where all hope dies.

.......................(Ho-ly kwap!)..........................

that's me gasping in awe at how solemn, and poetically profound this is. Well done!

(I'd only suggest to remove "old" from "my old soul must be gone"....helps the musicality flow better if you do).

Death is usually not a topic encroached upon by modern writers. This is an interesting and good write, your poem reminds me of romantics. Enjoyed it very much.
