Autumn has arrivedA Poem by Viki RachelLate, I know. But it needed to be published at some point. The first leaf falls, A mother calls, To beckon her daughter home.
The wind turns chilly And this will sound rather silly: Autumn has arrived.
No! Not the season (What you're thinking of) But rather a gift from Heaven above.
Autumn is not a season, But a person, you see. She is who turns the colors of a tree.
Her hair is dark brown, And her eyes are too; But her tongue is a cold shade of blue.
It frosts the ground, Without making a sound, And sends wandering critters home.
She's also named Fall, And she'll come, if you call; But only once a year, you know.
Her work is now done And she's had lots of fun, But now it is Winter's turn.
