The PowerA Poem by Viki RachelWhen the Power is gone from the Queen, what will happen?I remember your silks, And when you wore black, Because someone you hardly knew would never come back.
I remember the treats, The silver and gold, And the stories behind them yet to be told.
I remember your balls, And the themes so detailed, And when you laughed so hard you wailed.
I remember your hair, So soft and so fair, And your husband who was hardly ever there.
I remember how young and how scared you were, When you became the queen, And a spotlight that was yet to be seen.
Yes, you were a beauty, The Queen of the Queens, A wild soul, untamed, Yet so clean.
They took away your crown, And left your home in a mess. Oh sweet home Versailles! The home you would miss.
Now the ant sits on the ant killer, And the peasants wear the crown. They are mocking your power, Which is quickly shutting down.
Why, dear Marie, Did you ignore the tearing of the Bastille? And plentiful pity to the poor, You did not feel.
When your fantastical bubble finally did pop, Only then did the celebrations stop.
