My point of view on a few people from different religions, and my experience with those people.

Went to a Christian church

To hear them preach about God.

They spoke more of Jesus

And all of his thoughts.

 

And they told me,

Yes they told me,

"If you don't think like us then you're going to Hell!"

And they told me,

Yes they told me,

"On impure thoughts you must not dwell!"

That's what they told me,

What they told me,

Yes.

 

Went to an Athiest

To hear his opinion on God.

He spoke of the myths

And all of his thoughts.

 

And he told me,

Yes he told me,

"It's great I get to sleep in on every Sunday!"

And he told me,

Yes he told me,

"Christianity is just a bunch of baloni!"

That's what he told me,

What he told me,

Yes.

 

Went to a Catholic pope

And heard him preach about God.

Seemed a sure man

Who gave people hope.

 

And he told me,

Yes he told me,

"They think I am God, they think I know everything!"

And he told me,

Yes he told me,

"I'm not even that sure, I'm losing my faith!

"Because I'm human,

"Well I'm human,

"Yes."

 

They never asked of my thoughts,

Didn't care what I thought.

They had been blinded into their opinions,

And because I had not been,

And was not one of their minions,

They never asked of my thoughts,

Didn't care what I thought.

My opinion of religion, not of God, and how people are blinded into it.

Not negative thoughts, but hopeful ones. You are right about all religions, they are man's attempts to view God. Some are better than others and less judgmental, but none are true religion. Your sentiments in your author's note are telling that you have not given up on God; that is good, keep on searching. He is watching and waiting for you.
