The Way Life Is

The Way Life Is

A Poem by M. Jewell
"

Another of my slightly dark poems. I wrote this in early 2010

"
The Way Life Is

Lonely dreams at night

Tear streams down my face.

It only happens after a fight,

At first I thought this was only a phase

You know my name,

Not my story.

So, don't be mean,

Just don't ignore me.

I loved you, Daddy,

Why did you leave?

I miss you Daddy,

Leaving was mean.

I wish my life was a fairytale,

There would be a happy ending.

There would be you, me,

And a new life just beginning.

Awww... :'( Now this one is sad. It reads like it's from the perspective of a little girl. Or even an older girl who just wants to be loved and cared for like a child because she's hurt and vulnerable and scared... Because she missed it. Here she is just kind of writing her life off because she knows she has nothing. Very sad, but, since that is the aim of the poem, well done. :)

a beautiful poem... yet very sad. it captures perfectly the view children have on the world, and how they dont/cant understand everything. a lovely poem

That was sad but I really liked it. You're a great writer and you captured the emotions really well.

This is heartbreaking, especially the 'Daddy' stanza. i am so glad my husband hasn't done this to my kids, i don't think i would be able to forgive him... an emotional poem, painful, heartfelt :)
