Even
though the night was coming near the city, Emmy was still walking leisurely
through the park of the neighborhood.
It seems her mind had taken her to her old memories from childhood, memories
that had been sleeping in that autumn park for eleven years.
- "I knew you would be wondering around here." - It was this calm
voice that brought the girl back from her memories.
- "I was waiting for you to find me."- Emmy said.
- "I always find you," - her brother replied, - "let's go now,
it's late."
- "Eni, I don't want to go back home so soon, the silence there is really
deafening."
- "Don't be like that now, it's nearly seven o' clock, we should have been
home by now. If we don't hurry, dad will be mad at us again."
- "My feet don't want to move. Besides, he is still going to scold at us
for not being home at seven."
- "If you were to wait me where I left you, now we would be home. Come on
now." - After he finished saying those words, he held his sister's hand
and they both begun to run in order to go home as soon as possible.
Outside the villa's gate the children noticed a maid was staying there and it
seemed she was waiting for them. It was Natalie, the maid who had been taking
care of them for fifteen years since they were two years old.
The maid spoke to them in a worried voice - " Where have you been?! Hurry
up, you're late!"
The children hurried to their room in the second floor to change from their
sweaty clothes and then went downstairs to the dining room. There was waiting
their father with a serious face, more serious than normally.
- "Good evening!" - Said the children.
- "You weren't in your room when the clock stroke seven. I though I made
it clear to both of you that you must be home by then. Where were you till now
without my permission?" - His voice sounded as a calm one, but he was
definitely angry.
- "We lost track of time. We thought it wasn't that late." - Emmy
looked like she wanted to say something, but Eni spoke before she could say
anything.
- "Next time think better. Both of you go in your room." - Said their
father. It sounded like an order, so they went upstairs without saying another
word.
Right after closing the door of their bedroom, Emmy said to her brother -
"Why didn't you let me say why we were late? I hate it when you lie."
- "Cause I'm tired today and I don't plan on hearing the same annoying
words from him. Go to bed now, tomorrow we start the second year of high
school. Be sure to sleep soundly, cause tomorrow after school we're going to
visit mom and we will have to hurry again in order to be home in time for dinner and not late like today."
Emmy didn't say a word and they went both to bed.
