I am a FriendA Poem by Vasi Isaac Masia (Ake)It is about honouring a friendship and be there for a friend.I am a
Friend. I will
love and cherish our friendship. Our
secret needs no one else to know. It is confidential. It will
be here in my hippocampus and only you have the key to the archive. We may
share a thousand secret. But your
privacy is respected. I am a friend. I will
rather stab you in the front than at your back. I am a friend. Your
problem will be my problem. Your worries will be my worries I will
cry with you, pick you up when you seek a hand. Should
you need to share weights when it is too heavy for you, You have
two extra shoulders here; I am a friend. I won’t
brag or force into your issue. I have
respect. I will wait. I am a friend. But I
won't stand and see you suffer for too long. I am a
friend. I am not
like others but I am a friend. I may
not run with you in public after your success But when
you are home alone, I will never miss the chance to send you a CONGRATULATION
I am a Friend. I may
pull back when I see you make new connections But will
always be available for a chat Should
you need an old friend. Reach out I am a
friend. I am
this introvert who’d watch you enjoy others’ companions in a distance Admire
the joy, laughter and happiness And tell
you I am jealous because I am honest I am a
friend. I may
not be out with you on picnics road trips or barbeque But you
will find me beside your hospital bed holding your hand There
will be no delay I will be there as soon as I am told. I am a
friend. I’d take
a million step back and see you happy with others But a
single step to be right next to you. When
they abandoned you I will be there. I am a
friend. I will
struggle with you and not complain. I will
not be of much help at your party after a success But will
save my resource and strength for the next pursuit. I am a
friend. We will
fight its inevitable, Breaking
the bond is a choice But it
is not mine I am a
friend. akejuniormasia © 2021 Vasi Isaac Masia (Ake) |
