solitary

solitary

A Poem by Yheela

He is everywhere. There is no getting away from him. These woods and paths that used to be all mine, are now filled with memories of him.

There is where I first met him, he disturbed my solitude, my equilibrium. Loss for words I let him walk me back, I hardly understood a word he said.

Here is the stream he helped me cross the second time he happened upon me. My hand in his, did we hold on a little too long? We returned in silence, my head could not hold a single coherent thought.

This is the rock I sat upon, reading my letters. My shawl slipped from my shoulders and I left it there, too busy reading news from home. The call of a solitary bird made me look up, only to see his retreating back disapearing into shadow.

My heart skipped a beat.

He has left this place now, I do not wish to linger on our parting. Instead I linger in these woods. Remembering when my walks were disturbed by another.
