A Modern Faerie Tale

A Modern Faerie Tale

A Poem by Yheela
"

A Poem, a Tale of Faerie, with twists and turns.

"
Here on the busy corner of the street
A maiden, a princess so very very sweet
Her hair may be short and full of spikes
Her shoes not glass and more for hikes
Still, she's royal and pretty
Her humor dry and witty

One thing she ponders
One thing she wonders
She's sure there's supposed to be a prince about
It's like she's only half without
A man by her side
For nights she cried and cried

Then one morning in bed
A thought came to her head
"I have it now, I know! A shoe, a shoe!
"The prince finds it, asks: Does this belong to you?"
Her plan in action
It only takes a fraction
Of time before a man stumbles
He doesn't pick it up, only mumbles
Something about sorry ma'm
Stomping her foot she whispers Damn!

Only one thing to do it seems
A girl has to make her own dreams
Come true
I'm sure it's the same for you
Here a tall handsome man lingers
She taps him gently with her fingers
"Excuse me sir, are you by chance an undercover prince?"
He gives her a look, pulls his earpiece out and says: "Prince?"
Shaking his head he point to a store.
"No. Me, I only smoke Marlborough."

This is (almost) my first attempt to rhyme in English. I want it to sort of fall to pieces at the end, a trashing of the faerie tale ... tell me what you think.
