Untitled #3A Poem by Brian 'Yeti' FieldsInspired from the number of "siblings" I've "adopted" during my college years.I have always been intrigued by what makes a man Is it a cigar between his teeth or the scars on his skin? Does it have to do with his language, his car or his clothes? Can it be defined by who he fights with or what he stands to oppose? I have searched through this World and there is no defining answer So I turned to the Word, hoping Father would show me what I was after. He told me to love Him, to stand for His Truths But I still sought harder, looking for flesh-based proof Biblical real-men vary, from warriors to poets, Prophets who were pacifists to prophets who killed by the thousands. But all love God And all loved their neighbor So I clung to God And I began to define my neighbor. I love all people; at least I try to daily But some I love deeper and I hope to them I am unfailing Some are brothers; loved, embraced and encouraged Some are sisters; loved, protected, and empowered Iron sharpens iron Lilies among brambles Words from Scripture to base life on Words to base my sibling love on Whilst I lack blood and flesh, the Lord has provided Brothers to fight alongside of Sisters to console and be in light of I try to do these things, letting God guide my hand And I know these things are what make me a man. © 2008 Brian 'Yeti' FieldsAuthor's Note
