Your Darling AcolyteA Poem by Yet Invented
Northern Star,
Your friends must always glitter red - Who else would God dance with at night? Neutron stars flick out their swirls And stroke their skin, and flick their curls. Northern Star, Do you see her in the corner? She coruscates in sweet semblance To the spotlight in her heart. Go! Go ask her for a dance! Dark cloak of the sky, I thank you for hosting this night. We golden atoms watch the gods In youthful wonder and delight - O, their tapestry of milky curves! Quick, Northern Star - Come with me. Come carpe diem. I want to touch, I want to see - This is the spacegirl I adore, And I want to hold her soft shores. Northern Star, I want to take her from the sky And smooth her purple dress with my Fleshy finite hands, replete With scars and lines and beauty gone. Northern Star, You have your darling acolyte. I, whose love is sad and private Must suffer dirt-vegetable love And leave the skies to her designs. Northern Star, I am frightened and awake in the cold shakes of the night. If Atlas can't hold white snowflakes, Will stars behest my tired eyes? Northern Star, I cannot govern the world. Her hand and breasts are pressed against Another's chest, whom I protest You stole before she and I were taken. © 2010 Yet InventedFeatured Review
