Inner-Feeling of Peace

Inner-Feeling of Peace

A Poem by Matt Penrose

How do I describe my thoughts

- this inner feeling of peace?

How do I thoroughly grasp this feeling
 - describe the wonder it is giving me?

It is so quiet: the world outside.
There is someone there.
Something in the trees and in the grass.
A feeling like the breeze: gentle, calm and perceptive.

If you listen closely you can hear its voice
- a soft, gentle whisper, like the silent drift
of spring blossoms.

This, I know, is what I seek. This hidden calm,
this feeling - this strange peace.

I've heard that voice before, too, and it does instill peace. In fact, it is sometimes the only voice capable of doing so. A lovely, serene poem, Matt.
