You Nursed Me

For all the nurses out there who do their job well - you know you make a difference and I want to celebrate you!

When you nursed me, you took away the pain
of knowing I was sick
so I could settle back and take each moment
for what it was.

I was weak and a little bit afraid
but you nursed me
to be strong and brave again.

Sometimes when I wanted to sleep, you nursed me -
evidently some things were more important than sleep!

When I just couldn't smile
you caught how overwhelmed I was
and we found a way forward.

You smiled, and reminded me how good that is.

You gave me music, a hand to hold at just the right time,
and a bunch of drugs (you were so generous with those!)

When I was distressed, you were close at hand with
your expert hands.
I trusted you and my trust was well placed.

I know I'm feeling better today
in no small part because of the way
you nursed me.

I found this a wonderful read, and loved the story it told of a time of renewal, trust, and healing. I especially enjoyed the humor in it, and found it endearing as well as myself smiling because of it. Overall a great piece !
