I Pray

I Pray

A Poem by Yellow June

I pray that you will hear the trees
And listen as they sway in breeze.
And learn the ground beneath you-
Feel the cool grass all around you.
I pray you'll memorize the sound
the train makes on this aching ground
So far away, on rusted track
and wonder when it will come back.
I pray you'll stop to smell the air,
all the daffodils strewn out with care
and all the dewy morning musk
and later, calmly fires at dusk.
More than all, I pray that you
take time to see the precious truth.
Please love it hard,
and set it free-
that's all the beautiful I see.

Thanks for reminding us we've got to stop to smell the roses once in a while.
