Arrogance

Arrogance

A Poem by Initium

Though my bed is warm and my cat finds me extremely interesting,

I can’t stop thinking about what should and shouldn’t be.

And though she will talk and talk and text and text,

It doesn’t matter how much she tries to reassure me.

That person so perfectly perfect

Though possibly unaware of my existence,

Is what’s catching my eye.

Yeah, right now, I need the assurance.

I’m hungry and lazy and out of it,

But he still comes back to haunt me

Though only the third day,

I’m curious and want to know: do you want me?

Directing poetry to a person that doesn’t look

Or even to one that does, but is ignorant,

Is the stupidest thing I could do,

And yes, it makes me arrogant.
