(Kara’s POV)

As I walk towards the cave past the leaves on the plants hanging down on the entrance I can’t help but smile at the memories of this place.

I walk beyond the cave into what seems much like heaven.

I stand in front of the wild flowers near the lake with a waterfall and I sit down. I take a deep breath and I lay down in the grass to look at the sky with the sound of the waterfall in the back of my head. I close my eyes and then I open them again just to have tears in my eyes threatening to come out like a river and I begin to remember. The last time that I stepped foot in this beautiful hideout was the night that I lost my family. And all I could think is…

I had never seen so much blood, so much death.

*Flashback*

“Kara!” mother screams from the kitchen downstairs “Hurry and come down. Breakfast is ready!”

“Yeah! I’m coming!” I scream back as I put on some jeans and a white shirt and some tennis shoes and then I go downstairs and I sit on the table to eat. My mother puts a plate and a fork in front of me with fried rice and chicken. As I begin to eat my father walks in and with a smile he sits across from me and my mother hands him a plate with the same thing and she sits beside him putting her plate down.

“What’s going on?” I ask with a frown in my face. “Why are you so happy?” my father looks at me and then at my mother. He grabs her hand and looks at her eyes with love and maybe lust? 'Ugh disgusting.' I think to myself as I roll my eyes. “You better not start doing the naughty in from of your daughter. I’m eating you know.” My mother and my father both blush and I continue to eat.

“Your mother and I will soon have a baby” my father says changing the topic. “You’re going to have a sibling.”

“What?” I ask with disbelief. I can now see them smiling with so much content at me and at each other. “Since when?” I ask with a sigh of relief. Knowing my parents I thought they would send me to military school or worst a church school to become a nun but this time I got lucky.

“Since when what?” asks my dad confused.

“I mean since when did you find out?” I ask with a bit of annoyance in my voice. Then a minute passes and I stop eating and I look up at them. They look troubled by my question. “How soon?” I ask but they remain silent. “You said you will have a baby soon…how soon?” I ask with anger on my voice.

“That’s the thing…” my mom says as she looks down at her stomach and then at me with sadness in her eyes. “we talked to the priest before talking to you and she told us to not tell anybody about the baby especially you so at the beginning we didn’t but since we are at the last week of my pregnancy… we figured that we wouldn’t be able to hide my pregnancy from you anymore since a werewolf’s stomach begins to grow at the last week, so we decided that you should know.” She says with an innocent smile on her face.

I look at my mother in disbelief. ‘Why?’ Is all I ask myself. I have been lied to. I have been betrayed and by my own family, but why?

Tired of looking at my mother I put my fork down gently on the dark brown table and I close my eyes for a moment before I say “I’m not hungry anymore so… may I be excused?” I ask trying to avoid their sad gaze.

“yeah, you may” my father says breaking the silence first as I get up from my chair and say “thank you” and I begin to walk out of the front door.

When I’m finally out of the house I can see werewolves being trained by older wolves. I can see them tackling each other and others fighting for dominance.

I sigh as I look at the scenery. Besides the werewolves fighting the view is beautiful. My house is the pack house so it’s bigger than the rest of the houses in the pack and it’s in the center of the houses. The pack consists of normal looking houses with a mansion in the center of them with a forest surrounding the small town to keep it a secret from humans. The next human town is probably hundreds of miles away from this place since there is a forest surrounding us. I look at the trees swing from side to side as the wind whispers its own melody that I’m unable to understand but only feel. I breathe in and out not being able to believe that someday this will be my land and that I will be the alpha of this beautiful scenery.

I walk down the stairs and I run towards the forest. Smelling the oak trees I begin to shift and then I begin to run. Without hesitating I begin to let go of my thoughts trying to forget about my betrayed feelings. If I had went crazy nothing would have been explain, it would only cause more trouble and that’s not something that a leader would do.

As I begin to feel tired I stop by a secret lake that I found on the other side of one of the mountains in my dad’s land. Just like my father’s pack this lake is hidden. The only difference is that this lake is better at hiding. It’s surrounded by big rocks and plant vines. The only way inside is through the hanging vines that create a hidden door into a cave.  The cave leads me to a lake with a waterfall surrounded by rocks with the ceiling open. It creates a similar sight to the inside of a volcano just… more beautiful.

I walk towards the lake and I shift back into my human form. I look at my reflection in the clear blue water and then I begin to take my shirt of and my shorts putting them aside. Then I take of my tennis shoes off and I begin to walk towards the lake. I slowly put a foot on the water while I let out a little whimper at the shivers that pass though my body because of the coldness of the water.

Should I go back? The water is cold but if I go my foot will be cold….

I let out a sigh and then I start moving backwards but I stop before my foot is completely out of the water.

F**k it

I quickly move back towards the water and I jump inside sending chills all over my body. Then my body slowly starts to warm itself up from the inside and I’m warm. I begin to swim under the beautiful waterfall. Soon enough I grow tired and my body begins to feel heavy so I get out of the water and I put on my clothes and my shoes and I lie down on the grass besides the lake. I look up at the sky and with the warmth of the sun I begin to fall into a deep sleep.

When I wake up I quickly get up as soon as I remember that I didn’t inform anyone of my absence. I look up at the sky and with a sigh I begin to shift. As soon as I shift I begin to run in the darkness of the forest. When I’m finally home I walk inside and a warm breeze hits my body. “I’m home!” I close the door and I walk inside of the kitchen. I walk over to the fridge and I grab a pizza slice from a box and I put it on a plate. I put the plate on the microwave and set it for one minute.

When it’s finally done heating up I grab the plate and I close the microwave. I bite a piece from the pizza and I look at the time in the microwave.

‘5:30 A.M’

“What the?” I ask myself setting my plate down on the counter. “It’s already morning?”

No wait, although its morning my parents aren’t here yet… is something wrong?

I run towards my parents room and there not there. I walk inside of my room and I sit down on the side of my bed as soon as I turn the light on. I sit there and close my eyes feeling my head getting heavier and heavier.

Suddenly I’m startled at the sound of wolves growling and pounding from the outside of my house. I run over to my window and I look down and see werewolves fighting everywhere. I let out a gasp and then I look over to a particular wolf on the battle field. It’s a she wolf I’m guessing. She lets out a growl and tries to bite gray wolf but he moves away quickly and she ends up getting bitten by another wolf on her foot. She lets out a howl in pain and a big brown wolf runs to her side. I gasp in shock when I realize that only one type of wolf can be that big. An alpha.

I look at the wolf defending his mate. Then from the corner of my eye I see and gray wolf slowly stalking towards the alpha. Then as fast as lightning he strikes him biting off his head. Just like that, my father died.

“No...No…No!” I yell earning the stares of many werewolves from my pack as the other use it as an excuse to strike and more of my friends and family members getting killed.

I run over to my door towards the entrance of my house but I’m suddenly thrown on the ground. I try to get back up but someone hits me on my back and I feel myself go dizzy. I let out a growl and then I feel myself getting picked up from the ground over somebody’s shoulder. I look at him move the dining table and then the rug. He opens a secret door and then he quickly climbs down the stairs and puts me down on a bed. “Sorry Kara, but we can’t let you die. Not here…not yet” he says as he turns towards the stairs quickly climbing them and closing the door behind him. As soon as he closes the door I do the same with my eyes. I close them and everything goes dark.

I open my eyes and I listen for a while before I decide that it’s quiet and that everything is over. With my head pounding I slowly get up from the bed and slowly walk towards the other side of the room. I look at the stairs for a moment before climbing them as fast as I can and trying to open the door but it won’t open. I push it as hard as I can with my werewolf strength and I’m shocked with what I see. Everything is burned off. The beautiful mansion that stood here a couple of hours ago is now burned down. Nothing left but ashes. I walk over to where the door once stood and I look over to a figure of a woman on the ground next to a man without a head. I run over to them which causes me to slip on something wet.

I look at the woman besides me and I begin to cry. I look at her lifeless face and body covered in blood. I look at the man besides her and cry even more at the thought that he was supposed to be happy with the child that this woman was going to give him. Crying at the thought that I was supposed to have another sibling. They were going to add one more member to the family and now…I don’t even have one family member left.

When I can’t cry anymore I slowly stand up and I look at my hands and at my body which is covered in blood. I look at myself but I’m not hurt. I look over to my parents but I never exactly touched them. Then I take a step back and I hear a weird sound. As if I were to have stepped in mud or in wet dirt.

I look at the ground and my eyes open wide in horror. I see heads and body parts all over the place. People whom I was close to were now lying on the ground dead and the grass was not green but red. There were puddles of blood everywhere and I was the only one to witness it. I hear lightning and I look up at the sky. I get surprised to know that I didn’t notice the sky go dark gray filled with clouds. As soon as I look at the ground and then at the sky again it begins to pour rain. I walk towards the stairs where I stood last morning and I look at the same view but it looks different. It’s no longer beautiful.

It looks sad and haunted. It looks like a bloody hell. Like a place from the scary movies, a place that no longer looks like a dream but a nightmare.

Only if it had rained earlier…now…it’s just mocking me

I think to myself before I shift and run towards the forest. To get away and to never come back.

*end of flashback*

I lay on the grass and I smile as I look at the moon and the stars.

ever since then I have roamed this world hunting down the werewolf's that were involved in that event and I have tortured them until they die.

In this lovely world I am considered dead since no one knows that I made it out alive.

I have learned to live in the shadows as I take back what was taken from me.

after all the saying goes an eye for an eye. the only difference is that the rule I follow goes "a life for a life."

"Kara, we have a guy that Mira caught" Luke says as he appears besides me. "what do you want to do with this one?"

I slowly close my eyes and breathe in and out before I sit down and look at him. "my father's best friend couldn't swim...." I look over at the beautiful lake besides me. the water being so pure and clean it mocks me and reminds me of who I was when I was younger. "I say we drown him and dump his body in a lake." I say getting up and walking towards the side of the lake as I look at its beautiful clear water and I kick some dirt into it, turning some of it a bit black.

"I'll make sure Mira brings him then." I hear Luke say before he goes away.
