Chapter 1A Chapter by Yasmine FieldsThe wind blew softly passing through the trees leaves making them shimmer, I watch a single leaf fall in twirls landing on the ground. Closing my eyes sitting on my step behind my house, I let the wind blow through my locks, listening closely to the whispers of the trees. "He's been ignoring us." "But why, we haven't done anything." "Maybe he lost the ability to hear us." "Impossible, once you have the power you can not lose it." Sighing, I took a deep breath before opening my eyes, looking toward the forest all the voices went quiet. I was too lost in my thoughts that I didn't hear footsteps coming closer to me, until it was too late and a rock smacked me on the side of my head. Jumping up in shock and pain, I turned my head around to see John and his crew. They have bullied me ever since middle school, I moved away from them and looking around I connected eyes with my mother in the window. I gave her a pleading look for help, she then gave me a look of disgust turning away from the window. Another rock then hit me in my shoulder and I winced turning my attention back to John. He had a few rocks in his hand and was creeping closer to me slowly, I watched as the sinister smirk formed on his face. "Don't stand there." "Run away, they'll hurt you." "Please run away, it's not worth it." I heard the trees yell at me, I saw something in John's eyes that scared me. Without thinking I turned running into the forest. "RUN FREAK, RUN AND DON'T EVER COME BACK," he taunted me. I was a coward, John yelling became faint, but I couldn't help when my tears clouded my vision. As I swiped my tears away I went deeper into the forest. I knew they weren't chasing me or anything, but i just kept running. I ran, and ran, and ran; I wasn't running from them, I was more of running from myself. My foot then got caught on a upward root in the ground, tripping me and I fell down a rocky hill. It felt like everything was going in slow motion, everything went around and around until I dropped into a shallow creak. Laying there for a few, just floating staring as the leaves on the trees trembled again; finally sitting up a cold breeze blew against me and my skin prickled with goosebumps. It have gotten darker a lot faster than I realized, I knew that I had to get up or I would get sick sitting here in this water. Standing up, my muscles protested, but I ignored them, I have to be strong if I want to survive in this stupid world. Climbing up the hill was hard, with me being wet I slipped a few times falling scratching my palms, until I finally made it to the top. There stood a huge oak tree, I pulled my exhausted body toward the tree before plopping down under it. Leaning against the oak tree, it was warm, so warm; warmer than anything I felt in a long time and I sighed in exhaust. Pulling my legs to my chest trying my best to block myself away from the cold winds, knowing I could not go home tonight. "Please some save me, take me away, far away," I whispered into nothing. "What is the matter my child?" The tree's voice was kind, kinder than my parents, kinder than everyone I knew. This kindness made me feel so sad. "Have you had enough of this world my child?" Turning my head, I laid it against the trunk; I could feel the warmth running from the tree to my body, which just made my heart hurt more. "Yes, I've I had enough, I want out of this place, out of this world," I whispered painfully. "My child, you have suffered greatly in a world that you do not even belong to. Your heart and spirit is kinder than anyone in this whole world." "I don't understand." "Would you like to leave this place my child?" Twisting my body around, I hugged the tree tightly nodding my head as a little hope formed into my heart. "Yes, yes, please, I want to leave this place, no I want to leave this world. Please take me away," I begged softly. "Thus your journey has begun." The tree's voice echoed and I was then falling through the trunk; I yelped as bright red lights flashed in my eyes swirling around mixing with different colors. My body then stopped in mid air and I was just floating there; a red and blue light then stopped in front of me. They lingered there as i was, as if somehow we were almost the same; I had an urge to touch them, like my life depended on me having them. As my finger tips curved around them, they absorbed into my hands; gasping at the strange feeling they made against my skin. The left side of my body soon started to become hot like it was on fire, but it didn't burn and my right side felt cold almost like ice. The feelings soon covered my body and mixed and I felt this strange tingling feeling in my chest. The red and blue light then appeared in front of me again. Moving my hands again to touch them, they then disappeared and I was consumed into complete darkness. © 2013 Yasmine Fields |
