The Not So BIg Mistake

The Not So BIg Mistake

A Poem by Yas

I Love You
The words tumbled out of my mouth like cascading water
(a sharp intake of breath)
No wait that was a mistake

Yasmine what have you done?

Now you've given him too much control
who will save your soul?
when he breaks your heart
and you begin to fall apart

QUICK
Take the words back
put them back in your mouth and shut the door SMACK

I never meant to say those words to you
but don't get me wrong my words are true

I take slow steady breaths as i wait for a response
seconds seem like hours
and there you stand with this look of nonchalance

Did you hear me? My head screams inside
No response, ouch
all i hear is the roaring sound of silence

Its ok i didn;t mean it anyway
i begin to open my mouth to say

but wait, you open your mouth
and not a sound escapes
and my heart begins to ache

I begin to turn away
but then you grab my hand an say....

I love you too
