My jeans have felt ……….a lot of pews ..they’ve sat in lotus position .they have been to the large cathedrals and around on Christian missions
They’ve been soaked ……..in the smell of incense and they’ve been scuffed by an athame ..the knees have been worn from prayer .as I whispered amen, amen
My jeans have pockets …………………that I have emptied .paying for online classes …they’ve also carried the prayer beads .that have been sold to the Western masses
My jeans have felt ….a lot of pews .they know everywhere I’ve sat …..as I searched with hungry spirit ……….searching everywhere for God
This surprised me from the last piece of yours that I reviewed, so much so that I reread it just to make sure I hadn't misread it. I like this, the focus you put on the garment and the pews that they have touched, and using it as a mechanism to almost tell your spiritual journey along the way. Will we wear pants in heaven?
It's very imaginative to approach a spiritual poem this way. One of the most original spiritual messages I've ever read! Very creative, all the different ways you show your journey while making it appear as if from the jean's point of view. I remember in my youth, it was the time of being a hippie & we would wear the same jeans day after day becuz we longed to have worn-out jeans the natural way. Your poem reminds me of how our one pair of jeans, the one we wore all the time, carried so many memories & secrets. In fact, you've inspired me to write a poem about my hippie jeans someday! *smile* Thanks for the inspiration! (((HUGS)) Fondly, Margie

But when you featured this poem this morning, I could never forget this poem! I loved it back then & I love it still. Plus you gave me the heightened experience of being inspired to write about my own jeans from back in the old days! Great poem! *smile*

I felt so much from your words here, and it sounds like there are countless stories hidden behind them. It conveys such a hunger for the spirit.
All I can say is I really enjoyed reading it!
I felt so connected to my spirituality while reading this poem. It's like "Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants" meets God/Spirituality. I loved it, deeply. Great job!
Great piece of writing Yari. You have been very clever to make your jeans the subject of your search for god. It gives your poem a humorous tilt which works well for this and I think will widen its appeal. I really enjoyed this even though I don't usually go for religious poems as they are often very preachy!
Cheers.
