Accepting reality

A poem describing my emotions and struggle of accepting a sports injury that will hinder me from reaching my dreams

I still remember the pain
The flash of a moment that lives in vain
The contact from the cold hard ground
I turn to see people gathering around

I close my eyes to see if I'm dreaming
Only to open them and realize I'm screaming
The pain seems to rush though my body like a flood
I try to hold back my wanting of blood

I clench the dirt in unknowing anger
I feel as if my knee is a stranger
I do not feel like myself anymore
They will soon find someone else to adore

I accept my pain and continue to walk on
It still breaks me inside to see my season gone
I must gather my mind and fight for more
For next season is my open door
