Hearsay

Hearsay

A Poem by Yarom

An old shadow draws over the hours until the night
falls from bells
Listen
Everywhere the temptation of sycamores turns life into
a way out
Listen
Tiny tired shrubs sweep the dirty landscape on which
the men come
Listen
How a straw sky hatched from the same hand
that cut ears
I shall say
Sometimes in the moonlight you’ll see the still smile of
a scared cat
