The Lost OnesA Poem by Paul PruettBack, back, back long
ago, often do I dream. Of loves gone away. Some stolen. Some given away in
foolishness. What moment of joy do
I long for. A night in their
arms. A mere whisper of
what we had. A kiss, soft and
velvet of oh, distant love. I stare at the walls
and dream. Of their creamy white
flesh, ruby lips, love that seemed to last forever. Now gone in a flash. Back and back do I
dream. Longing for one
moment to tell them of my love. How it remains with
in me. Ever a part of my
soul. This life filled with
loves gone away. Some stolen. Some given away in
foolishness. But all gone. Remaining but nothing
except in my dreams. © 2012 Paul Pruett |
