Proposal

Proposal

A Poem by Paul Pruett
"

One of these days, I want to read this to someone. For Real.

"

All I want is more of you.
I want to hear your voice ever day.
Even if its over the phone.
I want to listen to what you have to say, even if it is nothing.
The more I find that you are not here, the more I find that I can not live with out you.
How can I have done this for so long?
No wonder my life has little meaning.
You are not truly in it.
You are my one true love, the author of my passion
. I never want to lay next to anyone ever again.
I never want to make love to anyone but you.
I never want to grow old with anyone but you.
I want to only build a life with you and no one else.
Sure, there have been others, but you have always been the standard.
The bench mark by which all others have been compared.
How stupid was I?
I can never apologize for what I did to you oh, those many years ago.
There is only one thing that I can think of to do.
And that is to love you, be with you, be yours for the rest of my life.
I want you to be with me.
Yes, truly. I want you to marry me.
This day.
Let this moment be the rest of our lives together.
 Marry me.
 Right now.
I want to wait no longer to be in your arms.
 Marry me.

Love, a powerful emotion, remains strong with the passage of time. This is so sweet and soothing to the heart.
