Comes now the Darkness, LightA Poem by Paul PruettTrying and failing to drescribe that moment of rebirth of my soul.
As the light shaft of God’s glory struck.
Bathed in the eternal reflection of creation’s dawn.
I stand.
Pouring out words with no voice, I resort to tears and gestures of worship.
There is no concept for my welling heart save to sing.
Aba, thank you.
The sun that bathes me is mixed.
Clouds hover as mild weather passes.
So long has darkness o’er crowded me.
No longer.
I am free.
Freed from the fire of doubt by a loving hand.
Freed from death by being awash in light.
New destinies lay before.
A banquet of choices prepared for only me.
All is done save the step forward.
As the light shaft of God’s glory struck.
Bathed in that eternal reflection of creation’s dawn.
Stood this man.
Ready to begin.
