Wind

Wind

A Poem by Paul Pruett

Deeply Blue black sky.
God exhales.
Kites fly from the trees.
The whole world whistles.
As the whole of land breathes.
Dark now comes the wind.
Roaring across the desert night.
It fills every emptiness.
Shakes anything in its way.
Cleans the streets, the walks, the fields.
Scarce is there movement on the land.
Save a lone car.
God exhales.
Stop.
Hear the music play amongst the palms.
Rattling my window.
“I’m here. I’m here.” Through the night.
Rushes does it come.
Sometime soft but so oft hard.
God exhales.
