Far and Away, She Rose.A Poem by Paul PruettI find inspiration in the strangest places so often.
Down the lane and far away, she rose.
Something out of a dream.
A dream of mine.
Far and away she rose.
Long moments we stood, eye to eye, waiting.
For the other to move.
For the other to fade.
Back whence we came.
Into the land of dreams.
My heart leapt in my breast.
Had my wish come true?
Had she come now?
Long had I waited for this moment.
Stretching to seconds, frozen in time.
Far and away she rose.
She said nothing.
Nor did I
We stared at each other.
There.
Far and away.
She fades in my vision.
Walks no further forward.
I wait in endless anticipation.
For she rises not, far and away.
One day that may change.
A moment I may turn the corner.
She may yet be down the long road.
Just there.
Far and away.
