Dreams Of Lost Love

Dreams Of Lost Love

A Poem by Paul Pruett
"

This started out as some prose. But I began to trim and cut here and there. I am fairly happy with the tone and feeling. What a meloncholy day.

"

Remember when we sat in the car, talking.
 Just talking.
We had left that party early.
I had said that stupid line to you.
It worked.
I knew there was something going on between us.
Others had said so. I saw it yet didn’t.
 How beautiful you were.
 How beautiful.
We sat in that car, the night deepened.
The radio echoed our passion.
 How beautiful.
When we kissed it was like nothing I’d ever felt before.
Magic that filled that moment forever burned on my soul.
Here now, so many years and miles later I still burn.
 How can that be?
For it is all that I have to keep me warm.
 Memories of that night.
That moment.
How much I loved you.
How much I miss you.
 How beautiful.

This is a very emotional piece. What once was that we may never see again. The joy, the pain, the laughter and all we are left with are memories and hopeless fantasies that one day we may see a glimpse of what we had. I indulged myself while reading this because you never know what is around the corner but we always remember what we walked away from.

Wow a truly heart-felt piece. It's hard to have such a connection with someone that you just can't shake and, for whatever reason...space or time, just can't be with them. Powerful emotions, good write.

Very sad and kind of heartbreaking. Not only do I mourn for your lost love, but I mourn for myself now, and how i've let love go...you never forget that kiss, that one beautiful kiss it's like chasing the dragon

I love the tone. Very sentimental, but not nauseatingly so. Love it.

Oh my, that's sad.. I have the urge to pat your hand, try to have you smile.

Memories with sad endings seem to remain longer, deeper, than the happy ever after ones.. and this poem backs that up . until that very last line. You had me fooled, i think, but, maybe not. Maybe it's that 'better to have loved and lost.. '

Thank you for sharing.
