Chances Are....

Chances Are....

A Poem by Paul Pruett
"

Another brief time when the door to my soul opens.

"

I could love if given the chance.
If only you’ll hold out your hand.
If only you’d say my name.
My heart is over-full with promise.
Waiting, hoping for the wait to be over.

I could love if given the chance.
Long have my empty nights been.
Hard have my prayers been to the Father.
Far flung is the lonely road.
Endless still seems the journey.

I could love if given the chance.
Tho none are forth coming.
There is no hope in my eyes.
Tear-stained remain my cheeks.
Another chance gone by the way-side.

I could love if given the chance.
Seems I am denied at every turn.
Nothing to be done to save my broken heart.
Oh to try and try again once more.
I could love if but given the chance.

I know the feeling very well!

This is so sad, every phrase a tear - those last two lines says it all.. even tho it runs through the entire post.

Guess hope is the word in here... we can't stop hoping..

Thanks for sharing a sad but finely constructed poem...
