May it Be

May it Be

A Poem by Paul Pruett

My heart leaps in my chest.
A frightened fawn.
Starting at the slightest sound.
The mere thought of one thing.
One.
You.
And only you in my arms.

Be still my soul.
The dream may yet be.
O, God, may it be.
Down long the years have been.
Waiting.
Watching.
In hope and in prayer.
May it be so.
May it be.

My heart leaps in my chest.
A fluttering bird, longing for flight.
Free it.
The blue sky of love awaits.
Let our love soar free.
Spreading its wings o’er the plains of time.
Let the whole earth marvel.
Let the whole of man-kind rage envious.

Be still my soul.
The dream may yet be.
Lord, let it be.

I really like this poem, thank you for writing
such a great piece, detailed with punctuated effort.
