Lament to SadnessA Poem by Paul PruettO, sadness, come unto me no more. Thou heaps firey coals upon my head. Tears flow as rain, burning down my face. My heart ‘tis over-burdened with grief. I cry unto the Lord deep in the darkest night. How I long for a soft hand to hold. A tender breast to lay my weary head upon. Soft, sweet lips to kiss away my tears. A loving word to make the world right again. Hold me in your soft-strong arms and let us love the fear away. O, sadness, thou art an evil cur. Nightmares you send fill me with dread. I so need my love to save me from your clutches. Your foul embrace doth break my heart in twain. Only her touch can save my all-too fractured soul. © 2020 Paul Pruett |
