WhisperA Poem by Paul PruettI longed for it and
it came. Finally. Long days of wishing. For one brief breath,
I felt her. Touched her hair. Smelled her perfume. Heard her whisper my
name. Then as fleeting and
the wings of a dove, gone it was. The velvet of her
lips lingered less. The silk of her skin
faded away. The ache in my heart
built to tears. For one brief breath,
I felt her. And she was gone. My soul weeps. Long days of wishing
are gone. All I have now is to
wish again. © 2013 Paul Pruett |
