ECHOES OF SILENCE

ECHOES OF SILENCE

A Poem by Yahya Oulad Aouid

Into the night, angels fall

Obscure is the human mind,

For in the night, I stand tall

Eyes wide shut for an inner voice to speak,

Echoes of silence bouncing of a wall

As I sink into an abyss, hollow and bleak.

Standing sole on a forested bank

A river so deep, a sound so meek,

Wuthering heights of a mind so blank

Kneeling over an untied shoe,

Slippery hands from wine I drank

Like man I have fallen, for he is a fool.

Reaching for unspoken grace

Gracious is the mind yet cruel, cruel,

Repulsive is man for he is base

I frown and frown till late-time dawn,

Tormenting is nightime haze

for a man so broken, a man that's lone.

Silence can certainly make us look inside ourselves and night time too. The combination of both can be revealing.

Repulsive is man for he is base

Lots to contemplate in this piece. I enjoyed reading your lines.
