Stainless Glass
In this darkness around us, A dim spotlight hovers over your head, What a saddened sight I thought I reminiscence the brightness there once was your lips attempted a smile your eyes failed to follow, swollen from the tears shed earlier, exhausted by that sorrow you attempt to hold that smile, your bottom lip quivers, The effort, unbearable As my gaze lowered, I notice the hunch in your back, I could vividly picture the weight on your shoulders, You kept going forward Lower on, I felt your heartbeat, as your chest faithfully heaved, fighting the chaos around you Keeping you on your feet I raise my hand to comfort you, you raise yours back instantly I look up to meet your eyes, An honest exchange, no lies I feel the need to soothe you, shelter you in my arms, I raise them to invite you in, you imitate my gesture I stretch out my fingers to reach yours, I could take your pain away I knew I could, as I approach you, an electric shock ran through my body When I realized, cold stainless glass was all there was © 2016 YM23 |
