Yellow SuitcaseA Poem by YM23The sweet and bitter life of a nomad
The Yellow Suitcase
It's time to leave i shiver at the thought, excitement or nostalgia, i do not yet know my faded yellow suitcase hadn't gathered enough dust a sweet companion you have been through all of my endeavors your dark damaged corners carry the scars of my past your used leather exterior wrinkled with time i thought we'd meet again further down the way, until a blue moon came calling for you again how bittersweet and short this journey had been it's time to pack you up once again slowly gathering evidence of our moments here i leave the ones of our previous trips together how distant seemed the objects i kept from past voyages tokens i cherished, do not weigh as much as before they asked to settle, for a while at least, or so I believed what have i got to stay here for, when a whole world awaits what have i got to stay here for, when they do not want us anymore yet i pack them in you, old faithful friend help me carry them until my heart is strong enough to carry them for you turn off the light, leave the keys behind, we know the drill, it remains unchanged a bitter taste of melancholy lingers in my mouth come devoted partner, let us not be bound to them, anymore © 2016 YM23 |
