About losing control of our dark sides

Monster Within

I can hear you 

whispers within

a constant chatter

I'm aware, you're there

attempting to control, escaping your hole

Daylight’s crowded by the world’s chaos 

To keep you quiet, an easier task 

impossible to ignore you when dark

for they all go quiet and turn off the light

your voice resonates through my body 

shivers reaching to my toes

Like the devil you conspire

Making me dance and of me a liar

you take over and lock me inside

In the darkness, I'm confined 

my screams silenced by your fire

The conflicts are harder, you become stronger 

Feeding on me, as I become weaker 

i cannot resist, i cannot fight 

so tempting to stop battling 

To let the devil out, sweet surrender  

It won’t be long now

you break the walls

brick by brick there is nothing left to take

you reach out, a gargoyle's smile breaks, 

monstrous 

you’re out at last, free to rule

traces of the person i once knew

fade away as the monster within

emerges 

victorious
