Bittersweet Madness

They say she was mad, but what did they know?

She was just a girl that lived amongst them yet remained very much apart.

She danced in the rain and laughed in the face of darkness, wild at heart.

She looked no more than ordinary, yet she just seemed out of place,

when in fact, she was extraordinary, unlike the rest.

She cried for fallen leaves, and mourned the setting suns.

She felt the pain of torn flowers and expressed the joys of spring blossoms

She awoke at the crack of dawn to salute the rising beasts,

She ran bare feet through the wild endless fields.

She looked at birds and made them her own, jumping from heights just to belong.

They called her mad, but what did they know?

“Broken bones, not broken soul” she sang.

She saw the raging dogs, she barked and growled,

She admired the majestic felines, and imitated their proud stride.

She did not fear the time, she lived for only now,

She cared not of others’ gaze, her own reflection sufficed

They called her mad, but what did they know?

We are all mad,

beautiful chaos reigns inside.

Only few let theirs shine through,

and when they do, it bursts of perfect imperfections
