Lonely in the NightA Poem by Y. CountsIt’s the lonely night of the soul. Those quiet sagging hours in the middle, when dark is darkest, and if you can’t sleep, yours are the only eyes blinking. The time when babies cry and mothers cry to keep them company. We touch and find some sameness in this lonely space of time, and we sink deeper into the rhythm of all people and their deep, swinging thoughts. You’ll never feel so alone as when you keep the night to yourself, carry it’s dark weight in your small arms, while others sleep in sure comfort.
