The Moon

The Moon

A Poem by Y. Counts

The moon finally saw me tonight.

It’s eye escaped the darkness

            and blindly sought me, alone.

Standing.

Looking.

And it brought with its glimmer

            a revelation.

Everywhere, people are making love.

People cry as they kiss.

There is an indescribable everywhere out there

            I have not yet seen.

There are faces I will touch.

There are people who will taste my tears

            when they kiss me.

And the moon, a greedy star,

will still make it’s home in the dark.

And when years have gone,

when the revelation is flesh,

            it will see me.

            Standing.
