Amber Eyes

Amber Eyes

A Poem by Emm'here

I may not be smiling,
I may not be happy,
I may not be okay, so without you here,
my head now has a chance to say,
"He wasn't worth it,
he's no longer here.
Look around, girl,
see all the tears?
It wasn't healthy, dear,
what you thought you
had going here
with the boy,
blinded from his own fears."
My head faces the ground,
looking down,
though there's no one around.
Tears start to swell,
my head let's my heart say
the story it needs to tell,
"You're selfish, head,
just because the girl was led
on in the wrong direction
doesn't mean it wasn't
worth all the laughs and memories,
aren't I right?
You look at me
with eyes of amber,
but I'd rather not see
you today.
