The Waiting Game

The Waiting Game

A Poem by XxWhatsername86

Strange isn’t it?

How this desire

seems to swallow us whole.

And it’s not quite a sinking sensation

but a shift in gravity

that fills my soul.

Something is falling.

Out of place, or out of time

I spent so many years calling

and kept getting the busy line.

But somehow, your heart
has continued to thrive.

I’d stand before the flames of love

and let it burn us both alive.

As long as I know that I’m yours.

And you’re mine.

My dear, my darling,

please, give it time.

Oooh, I really enjoyed this one. The rhyme is not forced, so that's a plus. Very well done.
