Split Second ChangeA Poem by Sarah SWritten about romance, as it falls away. A little cheesy/cliche, but give me a break, I was love-blind.
In a split second,
Everything is changed. Suddenly- The clock is ticking, Faster by the moment, Slipping out of your grasp. Stolen kisses are numbered, Each one, a treasure, to be caressed forever, In the arms of memory. Each moment is precious, When that special soul, Will soon be gone afar. You hide the despair Behind a veil of hope and chance, But the sadness still tears at you From the inside out, You cry in the darkness, Alone. Desperately wish for the night to end, As the seconds tick by, Slowly, Withholding from you the dawn. It was never going to be easy. You knew that. Because you're both young and wild, Trapped beneath parental laws, And the sharp sting of words, "You're too young to know what love is." The days fly past you in a blur. Good days when you see each other, Bad days when you don't. You're attitude is a happy façade, As you fight the tears day and night. You try not to worry, "There's still a chance." But inside, your hope dwindles away, In sync with the hand of the clock. The gears of time are grinding, Taking with them your precious stolen minutes. Leaving only memories, But even memories fade with time. In a split second, Everything is changed.
