Strangers

Strangers

A Poem by Sarah S
"

The people, the experience... Being at this school is changing me... I can't always tell if its for good or bad..

"

This experience, this place, these people.

Strangers clad in humanity and decency

Reaching out to touch the life of an unknown

Words shed but weak light on the vast pool of gratitude and wonder

Troubles rage like an ocean storm

Days go by in a blur of dark

Accompanied by violent longing

To throw myself into the endless sea and never return

But all is not lost

There is a fire burning

A small flame amid the rain

Fighting to grow and banish the tides

The candle of my soul is alight

Burgeoning with each lesson learned

A new chapter has begun

Where I’ll reach out to touch the life of an unknown

And become a stranger clad in humanity and decency
