"Diagnosed With Ignorance"A Poem by Sarah Ahmed
Tell me about the world where innocence was all but real
Tell me about the hands who threw such shame on those who'd steal Tell me about the eyes that shut to any life on screen Tell me about the mouths that silenced filth and left it clean And how true is what I say that every fiend is but my lover? Bodies will be veiled, but not prevailed over a cover Their symptoms are of blind disgrace, they'll very soon discover They're diagnosed with ignorance and never will recover Tell me about the ears that deafened any sounds of slander Tell me about the minds that thought no authorized commander Tell me about the hearts that felt no sign of any danger Tell me about the souls that never lived to know a stranger And how true is what I say that I've been robbed of every good? They'll never make a change of morals even if they could Then place your hunger at the top and put your shallow longing first You'll eat my cancer speaking truth and drink my illness filling thirst © 2013 Sarah AhmedFeatured Review
