Complements

Complements

A Poem by Sharon

Complements exchanced for simply politeness,

To be respectful, to be kind, perhaps to total strangers.

Complements exchanged in order to decieve,

To fake a smile, fake a friend, while to holding your anger.

Complements exchanged as a mocking gesture,

Such sarcasm, such pettiness, for intentions are displayed so clearly,

Complements exchanged to drive off your fear,

For appeasement, a coward, like others so many.

Complements exchanged for selfish personal gain,

To befirend another, in order to recieve materialisic presents.

Complements exchanged for such low self-esteem,

For if you give a complement, you'll sure recieves words that are pleasant.

Complements exchanged for sheer boredom,

To fill up the space, to continue a conversation.

Complements exchanged for pure, honest, admiration,

Because to complement truthfully, requires a celebration.

Yes! Complements are all about that. Only the beholder fully knows his or her intentions.
