Take A Look Around

A poem of an old women reflecting life. I wrote this poem camping, it kind of scared my mother with its emoness.

Take a look around,

And tell me what you see,

An old country road,

And a gentleman beside me,

And if you look deep a enough,

A baby you will see.

 

Take a look again,

A man gone for a moment,

Before the war,

And the goverment stole it,

Now a waiting wife and a child,

With no farther to hold it.

 

Take another glance.

Its Twenty-one honroned men you seek,

Blackness in all thier hearts,

Wake fire at its peak,

While high above in a tree,

A widows web beginsto sneak.

 

Now take a gander,

At the boy become savior,

Married to a pretty girl,

With no parents left to raise her,

Both now gone,

And none could be braver.

 

Take a look around,

Can you see it,

An empty house full of broken dreams,

And only you left to behold it,

with a lonely old women before it.

 

Now close your eyes,

And take a deep breath and sigh,

Cause words are no longer seen,

By my eye,

And words are not as sad and sweet,

As my final good-bye.
