The Smile

The Smile

A Poem by Sibusiso Xtdo Gama

Witness their faces, soft like laces,

With a smile that fades away as they look away.

Sing me no song about companion,

I have got nothing to say, but to stay lay.

Let’s sway our way through the day,

For one day will be another day.

For once we will bask in the adulation of true companion

Dust all the dirt of our numerous medallions

This smile is soft enough to kill,

It will do so at our will, the Madiba mill.

Freedom is bliss, we witness the consequence.

The fading smile proposes resistance.

Through the power of our ignorance,

Never said tolerance, that is zero tolerance

We won’t say a thing but to stay lay and sway our way through the day.

For one day will be another day.

For once we will bask in the adulation of true companion

Dust all the dirt of our numerous medallions

This smile is soft enough to deal,

It will do so at our zeal, the Madiba mill.
