Is that Me?A Poem by XiaWhen I look in the mirror, and ask if it's me. I get someone smiling, saying it was who I'm meant to be.
I looked at myself in the mirror today
And asked, “Is that me?”
Because me being that girl in there
I just couldn’t believe
She was all too pretty
All too perfect
It just couldn’t be me
Because I’m not worth it
She had a glowing aura
An all too angelic smile
She was definitely someone
Who would be worth while
I touched the cool glass
And asked, “Is that me?”
Because she seemed too alien
Out of this world, really
She stood so tall
And so proud
You wouldn’t see people
Pushing her to the ground
She was radiating with confidence
Such a strong belief in herself
She wasn’t someone
Who would need any help
I blinked real hard
And asked, “Is that me?”
And she smiled, and said,
“It’s who you’re meant to be.”
Someone unique
With a one-of-a-kind personality
Someone so special and precious
Someone who is liked by everybody
Someone who’s loyal
Dependent, courageous and intelligent
Someone who will lend a helping hand
Someone who would fight for those who can’t
Someone looked in the mirror today
And asked, “Is that me?”
And I just smiled and said,
“It’s who you’re meant to be.”
