So Cold

Dear Mother, why are you oh so cold to me? A poem about a not so good mother-daughter relationship.

 

So Cold

 

Why is your touch so hard and cold?

Don’t I do what I’m told?

Why do your eyes stare at me with such detachment?

Don’t I stare at you with a child’s love for their parent?

 

Why did you continue to push me away?

Why did you give me up to this lady?

 

This lady who loves me more than it seemed you did

This lady who cares for me as if I’m her own kid

Why does she tell me I can’t visit your place

Because you don’t want to see my face?

 

Why do you never call?

Why do you put up this barrier, this wall?
Tell me, please

Why don’t you seem to love me?

 

Why were my brothers not outcast?
How come your feeling of love for me did not last?

How come you refuse to see?

So cold this feels…this relationship between you and me

Um, this is something that just popped up into my head when I was thinking about a friend. I decided to attempt to try and think of how she views her mother. Criticism and comments are welcome. :)
